We offer bike rentals and pre-ride maintenance, as well as route guidance and local recommendations.
Feel free to ask us anything about the Biwaichi experience.
We also carry original souvenirs, and the adjacent "Bird Cafe" offers takeaway food perfect for a quick bite during your ride.
Zeze Castle Park
|
|
Zeze Castle was built after the Battle of Sekigahara by Todo Takatora, a master castle builder, under the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
It is said that its white main keep was exceptionally beautiful.
The castle was dismantled during the Meiji Restoration and the site has since become a park հայտնի for its cherry blossoms.
Some of the original castle gates have been preserved as Important Cultural Properties and relocated to nearby Zeze Shrine and Shinotsu Shrine.
Ishiyama-dera Temple
|
|
Founded in the Nara period by Emperor Shomu, this temple enshrines Nyoirin Kannon, a Buddhist statue believed to have been held by Prince Shotoku.
The main hall is built on a massive natural rock formation, which is designated as a national natural monument and gives the temple its name.
The temple appears in many works of Japanese literature such as "The Sarashina Diary" and "The Pillow Book".
It is also said that Murasaki Shikibu conceived "The Tale of Genji" here.
Many parts of the temple were later constructed with donations from Minamoto no Yoritomo, and its current form was largely completed in the early Kamakura period.
Nango Fishery Center
|
|
A fish-themed park operated by the Shiga Prefecture Fisheries Cooperative.
Visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences such as fishing and catching fish by hand.
The ponds within the facility are home to many freshwater fish including carp and goldfish, and visitors can also feed them.
